aww that's really cute! i never noticed the marriage scene last time. i like the theme of it. i also like the colours you added, so i think in general this is a great job!

my only suggestion (if you want to take it to another level) is to personalize the houses. they all seem sort of the same. maybe like, flower boxes would be nice? signs? post boxes? maybe try to check out an image of an old town and see what it looks like. I went to Quebec City recently and your pic reminds me of it - just minus the pretty hanging flowers!

But that's just that "next step" and me offering a suggestion. Otherwise, it looks great!

Hey Khaled, this is Phil. Ive been checking out your blog and i think you got some good stuff.

Heres some input if you want it. For this piece I feel it works pretty well as a whole. There were a whole lot of iterations. And i felt some steps went backwards.

I felt post 26 was most successful and just needed some polishing. I liked the lighting and shadow contrast because the buildings felt very solid. I think that adding some mid sized objects would balance out the picture too(banners,carts..something between the size of the houses and people).

It wasnt until this night shot that i realized the focus of the painting was the couple proposing. To me, the perspective plays a large part in putting the church as the main subject. This iteration feels unbalanced because your really forcing the lighting to show the couple. You can try moving the couple up and closer to the church and playing with the cast shadow coming from the spotlight.

and finally, some cropping might help to take out some dead space on the right.

Hope you take this crit well! <3

Check out comments on post_36 as well.

Thanks for the input guys.

I think adding that personal touch to the houses would be a good idea, ill throw those in there when i am done with the next painting i am working on.

Phil,

Good points.

Hmm, my intention ultimately is for the church to be the focus of the painting.

I threw the people in there to further lead the eye towards the church.

But i suppose having the super powerful "god" ray on the couple takes away from the church and makes them the focus.

I think i will lighten it up a bit, the light rays that is. And as for the cropping, i wanted to bring the eye from the right where there is very little to occupy the viewers eye, towards the center and then up towards the church past the couple to focus on the center of interest.

Thanks for the input man, appreciate it. <3 (no homo)
