Some more drawings........ and.........

The ground is very ........... unclear.....

.....Life Drawings!!!!!111oneoneone

I had a surprisingly good week ........ by this I mean my life drawing sessions did not end with me having a sour taste in my mouth. Life drawing is probably the most frustrating thing i do, yet when a session goes well it was also quite possibly the most satisfying.

It is fruitless and thankless, you life draw for yourself, and for yourself only. No matter how good a session is mistakes will be made, but despite it all, as i said above it is very satisfying when things just work.

5 mins - I like this one mainly because it all came together with a fairly clean look

1 minute ........ i think ........ i really should mark down the times on the paper when i am drawing.

2 -3 minutes - I like it for the most part, but the lack of feet on the drawing is really distracting and adding to the distraction is the lack of a proper right hand.

under a minute - not that great, too ambiguous....... but i need stuff to post:D

under a minute - I like this one, though I should have indicated the shins and feet ...... otherwise I feel there is a fairly good flow going through the drawing.

1-2 minutes - i like how this one turned out, usually these curled up poses end up looking very flat but this one works much better than usual. I think that the models right shoulder (our left) could have been indicated to give a better sense of volume but oh well.

5 minutes - I was fairly happy with this one, but now that I'm looking at it that damn hand is well unfinished and that leg being cut off at the shins is quite bothersome..... as well the face is meh.........

under a minute

30 seconds

under a minute

25 minutes - This one ....... didn't turn out that great as far as the drawing goes certain areas of shading

25 minutes - I am fairly happy with this one, the feet could have been much more defined but despite that i don't feel like this one stiffened up on me, usually the longer the pose is the stiffer it gets as i go on.

my favourite lifedrawing from this batch is #5 and 6, 6 was the one I thought was beautiful with the variety of lines and shading, and 5 is also really nice...it's clean without being stiff (as some of your more graphic-y drawings turns out) and like you said, wonderful flow!

I think you have a good grasp on shading and the placement of lighting, but you're a tad bit heavy-handed. I think consciously practicing with the way you control the different pressures (playing with gradients and utilizing the full range of shades) on your conte will see an improvement in that area.

That last one is lovely, though the heavy shadow-lines break the flow in some areas. One thing I do notice is that anatomically, this drawing works very well, and your lines are confident and clean and there is a nice sense of balance and weight to the pose. It's definitely not stiff. I think the sudden heavy shade-lines stiffened it up a bit, but there is life to it, especially if you compare it to the second last drawing.

Those heavy shadow-lines do work on the stomach, breast and knee, but not on left shoulder area or the neck, and it flattens out the hair. I really like how you shaded the background a bit on the left to bring out the brightness of the arm.

Anyway I'm getting off my high horse now =p

color your layouts!
